A bakery worker brings a boxed cake to a separate pickup counter beside the pastry case

Pickup display for bakeries

Give preorder pickup its own lane.

Cake pickups, warmed sandwiches, coffee and people still choosing pastries shouldn't all end up at the same counter. Show preorder customers exactly when their order is ready, on a board that suits the room.

Bakery on the Warm Counter board. Try the staff tap:

The Saturday bakery

Browsing, ordering and collecting are three different jobs.

At the pastry case

Keep collectors out of the browsing line

Preorder guests wait near pickup instead of rejoining a line of people still choosing croissants.

Behind the counter

Protect careful handoffs

A cake box, a warmed sandwich and a drink move at different speeds while the customer sees one clear Ready state.

Holiday volume

Keep names and numbers legible

Use whatever identifier is already printed on the box or the ticket. Large type, readable across a packed collection window.

Readable across a holiday rush.

The Warm Counter board lists each order with its wait time, menu-style. Two common bakery setups:

Best bakery placements
  • Ready-only tablet at the preorder shelf
  • Full board visible from the collection area
  • A screen away from the ordering queue
  • Large type for weekend pickup windows
Use the labels guests know
  • Customer name for cakes and preorders
  • Ticket number for counter food and drinks
  • Square orders arrive automatically when eligible
  • Staff entry for phone orders and exceptions

Works with the register you already run.

MANUAL Manual entry on any register

Type the name on the cake order, tap Add. Two seconds at the register, and it is on the board until collected.

What bakery owners ask first.

Can it show preorders placed days ago?

Yes. Staff add the order when they start packing it, or it arrives from Square when rung up. It sits in Making until you tap Ready on collection day.

What if a cake sits in Ready for an hour?

Nothing disappears. After a timer you choose, it moves to "please see staff" instead of vanishing, so the collector still knows where to go.

We call numbers, not names. Does that work?

Yes. Pick a numbers-only board like Ticket Numbers, or show both. What customers see is your choice.

Do we need to buy a TV?

Usually not. Any TV with a browser, or a spare iPad set to Ready only by the preorder shelf.

Give bakery pickup its own lane.

Pair a screen, run the next busy weekend, and keep the rest of the counter unchanged.
