A barista hands a finished latte across a coffee shop pickup counter

Order ready screen for coffee shops

Keep the barista on the bar, not answering the same question.

When nobody hears the name over the grinder and mobile-order guests crowd the espresso machine, one visible Making and Ready board gives everyone the same answer. Square-connected or on any register.

Coffee shop on the Clean board. Try the staff tap:

The 8:15 rush

Three things the board fixes in a rush.

Over the grinder

Let the name stay visible

A first name, last initial and ticket number stay on the TV after the name is called once and lost under the grinder.

At the pickup ledge

Move waiting guests off the bar

A Ready column gives mobile and counter guests somewhere useful to look besides the barista pulling shots.

Between rushes

Keep exceptions simple

Eligible Square orders arrive automatically. A phone order or a remade drink takes staff two seconds to add.

Which screen, and where.

Any TV with a browser, a spare iPad, or a $35 streaming stick. Two common coffee shop setups:

Compact neighborhood café
  • One Full board behind the pickup ledge
  • Name plus ticket number for a noisy bar
  • A countertop tablet where a wall TV is too much
  • Pickup Signal Clean as the first layout
High-volume espresso bar
  • Ready-only screen facing mobile pickup
  • A second Making screen near production
  • Large type sized for the viewing distance
  • Estimated waits from your prep times and staffing

Works with the register you already run.

MANUAL Manual entry on any register

Type a name, tap Add. Two seconds, on the same phone where they mark drinks ready. Phone orders and remakes included.

Every eligible Square order lands on the board the moment it is rung up, with the customer name and drink. No retyping at the bar.

What coffee shop owners ask first.

Will my baristas actually tap it?

It is one tap per drink, and it replaces a job they already do: answering "is mine ready?" out loud all shift. If someone forgets, the order simply stays in the making column.

Does it work with mobile orders?

Yes. Square mobile and online orders arrive the same way counter orders do, so the person who ordered from the app sees their name on the same board as the walk-in.

What about shouting names like we do now?

Keep doing it. The board is the backup the grinder cannot drown out, and the reason nobody has to shout twice.

Do we need to buy a TV?

Usually not. Any TV with a browser, or a spare iPad set to Ready only. Ask before you buy anything and we will tell you exactly what works.

Give the coffee line one place to look.

Try the board through your next two busy weekends without changing the register.
